ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP TREK – RESCUED DUE TO STORM AND SNOWFALL | ABC TREK IN NEPAL

This is the story of my one and only unsuccessful Annapurna base camp trek sometimes trekking in winter, things can happen. In the month of February, a small group of Malaysian friends came to Nepal for the Annapurna base camp trek and I was guiding them. ABC trek in Nepal began with a 7 hours’ drive to Pokhara. We reached Pokhara and checked in at one of the hotels close to the lakeside. And after some rest, we went out to explore the town and did some last-minute shopping. After breakfast at the hotel, we drove to Nayapul and started our adventure trek to Annapurna base camp via Poonhill following a small river on the side through the local villages. The first-day trek was easy and short, after a 4 hours walk we reached our overnight destination at Tikhedgunga. The second day of the trek was tough as we were gaining 1300metres elevation, climbing steep stone stairs through the local villages and forest. Finally, after 7 hours of walk, we reached Ghorepani, luckily we saw a beautiful evening view of the Annapurna Himalayas. As we were tired and need to wake up early morning to see the sunrise from poonhill we went to bed early. Day 3rd, the weather was bad, snowing, and no visibility, but still we were hoping we may see some view from poonhill so, we hiked up to poonhill. Unfortunately, we saw nothing. We came back down to our guest house, the weather was getting slightly better. After breakfast, we started our trek to Chuile village walking into the deep forest, uphill and downhill following Deurali, Bhanthati, and Tadapani village.
